There are seven tree sculptures in this project, which was part of a wider project of 'Upright but Doomed'. The Elms die at the height of 40 feet when a beetle enters the adult tree and causes a fatal disease. Jilly dug them up from the near-by river bank once they had contracted the disease, and brought them back [with roots] to the studio. She then worked on these trees so that they would stand on their own roots in a gallery. She decorated them all with 'Family Tree' ideas ... eg 'Grafitti Tree' with names of all the family and friends ... and many more...
